A man with a red flower in front of his face with the words Dark Soul River
Saturday, September 19, 2026 - 7:30 PM

The notorious Kaw Valley Killer claims he will finally tell where his as-yet-undiscovered victims are buried -- but there's a catch. He will confess only to the brother of his last victim. Now, Saarathi, a devout Indian Hindu who came to America only to settle his sister's affairs, finds himself in an intimate and horrifying confrontation with evil. Over five days of an intense cat-and-mouse game, devastating secrets are unearthed. Twisty, multicultural, and psychologically haunting, Dark Soul River is an unforgettable emotional ride.

Written and directed by Champaign resident Vijay M. Rajan, and produced with many cast and crew members from Illinois, this is a chance to see a locally made film before it heads off to the festival circuit and eventual distribution.

Besides local talent, our main cast are known working actors from New York, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area; our award-winning Los Angeles music composer has worked on shows such as The Morning Show, Bridgerton, To Catch a Killer, and Finestkind; our editor last worked on McVeigh, available on Hulu; and our VFX was crafted by a company in India that regularly provides effects for AppleTV+ and HBO Max.

This is big film done locally, one of the key players in the push to make central Illinois a flashpoint for quality professional film production. The screening will be followed by a moderated Q&A with key cast and crew members. Don't miss out!
